Using Bullinger’s King James Version Companion bible (Kregel)
Scripture written of Moses’ very last speech he gave to the body of Israelites before he left to ascend Mount Nebo. These verses come to be known as the “Song of Moses”, Deuteronomy [32].
At that time, and for the ensuing intentions, Israel’s status as God’s single possession as a nation, is explained. From Noah’s descendants and their generations, there were a group of 70 nations created by their families, their tongue, and their nations. While they were indeed of the
lineage of Noah, they were not respecting the only true living God, YHVH, but instead they turned to idols and gods created of their desire.
These other 70 nations became in effect, nations given up by God, but only for a time, as they turned away from YHVH and took up their own myths of gods, prescribing kings as deities and ignoring the
truth of the only one true God. Many of thee 70 nations would be ruled by very corrupt and violent individuals, with details found in available historical accounts.
The 1 single nation of Israel, arriving away from the bondage of Egypt and towards the land promised by God, would belong to God himself, as the other 70 nations would appeal and have spiritual control by satan and his own abiding, rebellious sons of God.
Deuteronomy [32:8] “When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.”
[ed: All 3 of Noah’s son’s are related to their patriarch Adam of Genesis chapter [2].]
[ed: As verse 8 states, there were the very same number of Adamic nations divided at the “Tower-of-Babel” event.
There are people claiming that in verse [32:8], the text should be “sons of God” rather than “children of Israel”, the text found on the copy of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
The traditional Hebrew text of the Old Testament (the “Masoretic Text”) has “beney yisrael” (“sons of Israel”). However, another textual manuscript known as the Dead Sea Scrolls, reads “beney elohim” (“sons of God”). It is said that the Dead Sea scroll version is to have an older date. This conflicts with the Masoretic Text (MSS, aka the “Ezra Codex”) that the KJV is based upon. Be careful about this change that people are arguing for the reference towards angels.
Deuteronomy [32:9] “For the Lord’s portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.”
[ed: “Jacob” is the man called Israel. The nation of Israel did not formally exists yet. Jacob’s sons (tribes) were not yet known at the time of Tower of Abel, but since then, Jacob’s wives were to produce 70 descendants. This matches well with the 70 descendants of Noah’s sons. This verse together with the verse [32:8] text of using “beney yisrael” is consistent together.]
Deuteronomy [32:12] “So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.”
[ed: Unlike these other 70 nations of people who settled around the land given to Abraham by God’s covenant, these 12 tribes of Jacob (Israel) would become a formal nation of Jacob’s sons and daughters, along with certain strangers appearing later. YHVH will retain just that 1 single nation for his purpose.]
[ed: Reading Leviticus [20:23-26], prior to Israel’s entrance into the Promised Land of Canaan, God explained His attitude towards the other nations ruled by their own gods and idol kings, as well as Israel’s special status as the Lord’s unique nation.]
Leviticus [20:23] “And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nations, which I cast out before you; for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.”
Leviticus [20:24] “But I have said unto you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto yu to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey: I am the Lord your God, Which have separated you from other people.”
Leviticus [20:25] “e shall therefore put difference between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean: and ye shall not make your souls abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any manner of living thing that creepeth on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean.”
Leviticus [20:26] “And ye shall be holy unto Me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be Mine.”
[ed: Similar commands and characterizations are given again.]
Deuteronomy [18:9] “When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.”
Deuteronomy [18:10] “There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,”
Deuteronomy [18:11] “Or a charmer, or a counsulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancher.”
Deuteronomy [18:12] “For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.”
Deuteronomy [18:13] “Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God.”
Deuteromony [18:14] “For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.”
[ ed: God is taking 1 nation of people to be his single example that will serve to Him and be his people by intent. Obviously Israel did not always behave very well to God, and there were consequences to the generations of the Hebrew people accordingly.]
The other 70 descendant nations of Noah would then take on other gods create their myths, and place reverence towards idols. This while showing their disdain for the truth of God and for willful usurpation towards Gods rightful place in their lives, they had no respect for proper love and respect of the Father in heaven nor for their fellow mankind.]
